Counter Terrorism Policing Teams have been testing new protective security and preparedness ways of working with over 30 Local Authorities and public bodies in the North East.

At the request of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO ), the outcome of this 12-month pilot has been independently assessed by Coventry University's Institute for Peace and Security (IPS) and in a report below. IPS is a research institute at Coventry University that focuses on studying  and taking action to enhance the capacity of various actors to contribute to secure and resilient societies.

NaCTSO will carefully consider the findings and insights from Coventry University as it develops its local approach to protective security and preparedness in collaboration with Local Authorities and regional Counter Terrorism Units. An update on the national roll out of this approach will be published in due course, but if you are interested in finding out more about the pilot, please visit the ‘contact us’ page on ProtectUK and send in your questions. NaCTSO will draw on the insights provided in the report to refine their strategies and initiatives, ultimately contributing to more secure and resilient societies.
